Sample Responses: Would your church hire this guy?

If your church would not hire him, then you are not alone. From what I understand, no church hired him in that day, either! He was not a "preacher-for-hire". He worked day and night as a tent-maker to support his self, and made the gospel available free of charge. How many would be willing to do that today?

I believe the church has a problem today. We wouldn't hire the Paul the Apostle today because we need to have perfect, long term, entertaining, popular and "can get the job done" in our way and in our cultural setting so people will feel like coming to our church! Hey, can't get the people to come to church, can't get em saved anyway, right??! No wonder Paul couldn't stay very long in one place! Too much truth and not very "user friendly!" HEY! Very interesting I wonder how often people fail to recognize the talent that people have by what the person looks like or sounds like. We "Christians" tend to say we do not judge by looks, wanna' bet. When I preached my first sermon in the church I wore a shirt, tie, and slacks. I returned for a visit and was asked if I now dress and sound like a preacher. What? I didn't think that there was a certain way a preacher sounded. Do we all preach the same? Do we all look the same? And finally do we all have to wear suits to be a good preacher? What other restrictions as far as dress do we put on our ministers? Let me ask this am I wrong thinking that we should be serious, but yet we do not need to be overdressed for the job? I am a poor Pastor and my church can only afford to pay a meager salary. If someone wants to supplement my income they are welcome.
