Spiritual Change

Emerging Tuesday Column: The following are notes from my “Writer’s Notebook”—ideas that might develop into a Tuesday Column.  They are presented here for two reasons:  (a)because some of you only need a seed idea to get what you want from me—something to think about.  And (b) some of you like to give your input on the front end—shaping what I might later say.  So either take this and think about it, or respond with your input to keith@tuesdaycolumn.com

Categories of change…

1.      Change of status—LEGAL: done in heaven, judicial act, something about me. Example: my change of status at conversion. Which scriptures fit here?

2.      Change of mind—BELIEF: doctrine, mindset, worldview, Which scriptures fit here? (Is this the same as change of will or different?)

3.      Change of heart—EXPERIENCE: Attitudes, love, motivation, desire… Which scriptures fit here?

4.      Change of behavior—LIFESTYLE: words & deeds.  Behavioral.

·        Do some traditions focus more on one than another?

Reformed=change of status

Wesleyan=change of behavior

Charismatics=change of heart?

·        Which comes first?

·        Is there more than one starting point?

·        Is there sequence here?

·        What is missing in this list?  Should change of will be here—or is the will assumed in change of mind?

·        What Scriptures go with each?

·

·

·        Is there something worthwhile here or not?
